About Bolero Guitar Resources

A Michiana-based FREE online service for musicians in an effort to educate the public and promote the guitar
as a serious musical instrument.  We are currently building our online curriculum.

With the media in control of the airwaves through television, cable, radio and satellite, most of us are exposed
to commercial music and very little to the functional nature of music.

Lack of education regarding how music is composed or what makes a musical composition more
valuable than another has led to poor listening choices for the general public.
 In addition, young aspiring
musicians make choices regarding their musical education based on the distorted picture that the general
media portrays.  The commercialization of music gives the impression to the listener that commercial
programming is the only or better choice of music.

Bolero Music Resources is
committed to presenting a fair spectrum of guitar music from a wide selection
of styles and musical backgrounds.
In addition, we are convinced that even though tablature may help some
get a head start on playing guitar, in the long run, learning to read music for guitar will take the serious guitar
student to higher levels of achievement as a performer, composer and instructor.

Bolero Music Resources also offers private guitar instruction for a reasonable fee.  Our instruction is
based on highly regarded
methodology such as:

*
Students beginning to play the guitar are expose to basic guitar techniques from Noad's First Book for the
Guitar.
* Frederick Noad's Solo Guitar Playing for those
aspiring to study classical guitar.
*
Jazz students are instructed from William Leavitt's Modern Mehod for Guitar [Berklee Press]
*
Flamenco enthusiasts are taught from Dennis Koster's Key's to Flamenco Guitar and Advanced Flamenco
Guitar.

At Bolero,
there is music for everyone.  Someone, however, may find it strange that we offer no track in rock
guitar.  The reality is that from the stand point of instruction, rock music has very little musical content to offer.
Any of the tracks above will prepare the student with the music theory and guitar skills needed to tackle any
job in the studio, including playing in a pop or folk band.  Instead, for those interested in playing the electric
guitar, we offer an
Electric Guitar track specifically designed to address the styles of music played in this
popular instrument.
The student is required to demonstrate the skills taught in the second module of the
First Book for the Guitar by Frederick Noad.

Music enriches our lives daily.  Guitar music allows us to take our wealth of music along with us wherever we
go.  Make an investment in learning to play an instrument with a legacy of hundred of years and pass on this
beautiful art to loved ones around you.
